Jerry Denton Obenchain, 75, of Dunmor, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022, at his home in Dunmor. Born Wednesday, September 11, 1946, the son of Dennis Obenchain and Mary Seaton Obenchain, he was a dedicated forklift and tow motor operator at ER Carpenter Company, from which he retired after 37 years. He was also a US Army Veteran, where he honorably served his country in Panama. He was preceded in death by his brother, Orval Obenchain.
Jerry was also an avid racing fan. The kind of fan that didn’t follow a particular driver, but rather just enjoyed watching cars flying past one another; and like any true racing fan, dirt track was his favorite. His love for cars extended past watching them on TV and never passed up an opportunity to attend a good car show. His favorite hobby was relaxing in his recliner, drinking coffee as he watched Andy Griffith, American Pickers, the Grand Ole Opry, Barrett-Jackson car auctions, and/or Family Feud. Jerry could also be found at his nephew Darin’s auto shop in Lewisburg chatting about racing.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Noffsinger (Tim) of Beech Creek; sister, Bernice Forgy (Morton) of Lewisburg; brothers, James Obenchain of Dunmor, Jeral Obenchain of Dunmor, Charlie Obenchain (Mary) of Auburn; grandsons, Jenoah Noffsinger and Jazziah Noffsinger both of Beech Creek.
