GREENVILLE – James Shelby “Jimmy” Jackson, 82, of Greenville died June 6, 2025, at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Born in Greenville November 1, 1942, the son of the late James Jackson and Lavoun Walker Jackson. He had been a deacon of Joines Chapel General Baptist Church for 30 years, and he was a farmer, also working in land improvement. He loved cutting horses, roping horses, and hunting, and was an all-around cowboy. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Joines Chapel General Baptist Church in Greenville, officiated by Rev. Jeremy Wagoner. Burial will follow in the Joines Chapel Cemetery. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patricia Ann Swinney Jackson of Greenville; one son, Clint (Shannon) Jackson of Greenville; two grandsons, Oakley Jackson of Greenville and Wes Jackson of Greenville; one sister, Jackie Peterson of Greenville.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 9 at Joines Chapel General Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m.
until time of funeral at 1:00 p.m.
