GREENVILLE – James Russell Newman, 72, of Greenville, died Monday, July 28, 2025 at 4:05 p.m. at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Born May 29, 1953 in Louisville. He worked as a Material Handler for Goodyear in Madisonville. He enjoyed hot rods, drag racing, and old cars. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville and was very involved in his church. He enjoyed attending the Locke Sunday School class. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and watching them participate in sports, Tae Kwon Do, and Motor Cross. He was a huge fan of his grandchildren, no matter what they were involved in. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jo Ann Mattingly; father, Joseph B. Newman, Jr.; and mother, Anna L. Newman.
Survivors include his children, Christopher Alan Newman, Susan C. Newman, and Eric Newman; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Newman; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 12 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Bob Thurman officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
