SACRAMENTO – James Ewin McPherson, 89, of Sacramento passed away Sunday December 22, 2024 at 8:23 a.m. at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Born in Muhlenberg County November 23, 1935 to Isaac and Lorene Miller McPherson. He was a retired farmer and logger. He was an active member of United Christian Fellowship Church of Bremen where he was a trustee and founding member. He served several years on the Muhlenberg County ASCS county committee. He also served several years on the Farm Bureau Board and the Muhlenberg Extension Council. Mr. McPherson was a 67-year member of Bremen Masonic Lodge and a member of the Brier Creek/Millport Neighborhood Watch. He was also an Army Veteran. In later years, James attended cardiac rehab at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital and was loved by all of the staff there. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Mary Jo Revelett.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years who he married on December 23, 1966, Ella Stewart McPherson; a son, Stewart (Stacey) McPherson; a sister, Shirley Richey; a Goddaughter, Robin (Bobby) Oldham; Grand-Goddaughter, Mallory Oldham; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, December, 27, 2024 at 11a.m. at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with Rev. Kelly Turner officiating. Burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to The Gideons International or the United Christian Fellowship Church.
