BREMEN – Irma Jane Hobgood Nelson, 77, of Bremen, died Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 5:45 p.m. at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest in Owensboro with assistance from the Heartford Hospice House. Born November 30, 1946 in Muhlenberg County to Mr. and Mrs. William Hobgood of Central City. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen. Irma worked for General Electric in Madisonville for 32 years as an aircraft builder. She enjoyed her job and all her friends. After putting in 32 years at GE she retired. She enjoyed her time with family, friends, her precious doggie Brittany, and watching UK Basketball. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eva Hobgood McElvain; and brothers, Arthur Hobgood, and William Boyd Hobgood.
Survivors include her son, Dwight (Audra) Nelson of Bremen; sisters, Mary Glenn of Central City, Brenda Franklin of Central City, and Yvonne Hobgood of Bremen; brothers, Eddie (Barbara) Hobgood of Central City, and Freddie (Brenda) Hobgood of Bremen; nieces and nephews; and pallbearers, Troy Hobgood, Darrell Pendley, Mike Faught, Dwight Nelson, Philip Smith, and Terry Jones.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Tom Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.
