Hollis and Eleanor Hale

A brief gathering for remembrance of Hollis and Eleanor Hale will be held at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:30. Inurnment of their cremains will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. All are invited.

Hollis Bradley Hale, Jr. was born to Hollis, Sr. and Martha Hale in Lexington, August 6, 1937. He died on his 88th birthday, August 6, 2025. His career included 27 years in the United State Air Force, retiring at the rank of Lt. Colonel. After his military retirement he worked for more than 20 years for various companies managing B-52 flight simulators at Carswell AFB in Forth Worth, Texas, and Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Eleanor Ross Simpson Hale was born to Hiram and Frances Simpson in Louisville on September 8, 1938. She died at the age of 82 on March 19, 2020. Her career included working as a medical transcriptionist for many years. Hollis and Eleanor met while attending Greenville High School. Hollis graduated in 1955 and Eleanor in 1956. Both attended University of Kentucky. Hollis graduated from UK in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.

Hollis and Eleanor married at the Methodist church in Greenville on June 21, 1957. Hollis and Eleanor are survived by their children Brad Hale (Gary) of Dallas, Texas, Karen Hale-Stenson of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Kathe Gegenheimer of New Orleans, Louisiana. Their grandchildren are Tyler Stenson and AnnaGrace Hale of Bossier City, Louisiana, Olivia Gegenheimer of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Eric Gegenheimer (Maddie) currently in Corpus Christie, Texas. They are also survived by Eleanor’s brother Jim Simpson.
