GREENVILLE – Herbert Latney Mayes, 95, of Greenville, Kentucky died at 1:50 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024 at his residence.
A native of Frogtown, he was born on May 17, 1928 the son of the late Eulah Mayes and Mary Altha Willoughby Mayes. In his working years he worked as a machinist. He married Genevieve Green and raised a family of seven children.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two sisters, Peggy Mayes and Patsy Mayes and granddaughter Mallory Falkenberg.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Genevieve Mayes; sons: David (Melanie) Mayes of Greenville, Timothy Mayes of Paducah, Daniel (Lisa) Mayes of McIntyre, Georgia; daughters: Theresa Barnabee of Russellville, Cynthia (Larry) Falkenberg of Milledgeville, Georgia; Rebecca (Donald) Flair of Smyrna, Tenn. and Jessica (Micah) King of Greenville; brothers: Thomas (Shirley) Mayes of Central City, Larry (Pam) Mayes of Central City; sister; Jean Felton of Kansas City, Missouri. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on March 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Central City. Dogwood Funerals & Cremations of Crofton is assisting with arrangements.
