GREENVILLE – Harold “Dean” Bivins 84 of Greenville, died Friday, November 28, 2025 at Greenville Nursing and Rehab following a lengthy illness. Born May 21, 1941 in Muhlenberg County, the son of the late Virgil Bivins and Mary Alma Reeves Bivins. Dean was a carpenter, was a longtime member and oldest Deacon of Friendship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Anita Gail Bivins.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from Gary’s Funeral Home by his son, Deacon Scott Bivins with burial to follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 30, 2025 between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, and after 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Joyce Ann Bransford Bivins of Greenville; son, Scott Dean (Melissa) Bivins of Greenville; daughters, Theresa Ann (Larry) Jones of Madisonville, Robin Sue (Alan) Rice of Greenville and Tamyra Dawn (Mike) Coleman of Greenville; nine Grandchildren, Joshua (Ashley) Bivins, Sarah (Joseph) Dobbins, Megan (Graham) Moore, Kenzie (Joshua) Edmonson, Leslye (Craig) Patton, Derek Rice, Holly Rice, Karissa Shelton, Adrian (Dusti) Wilcox; 15 Ggreat Ggrandchildren; brothers, Russell (Beverly) Bivins of Greenville and Barry (Dee Dee) Bivins of Greenville; sister, Sandy (Ricky) Spears of Greenville.
