CENTRAL CITY – Glendel Charles Mencer, 88, of Central City, died Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Greenville Nursing and Rehab. Born March 7, 1934, in Muhlenberg County, he was a maintenance worker at Evansville State Hospital, and a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Glenda “Misty” Ransdell; parents, Anton and Rena Embry Mencer; sisters, Betty Lou Ashby and Patty Sue Vincent; brothers, Leonard Mencer and Kenneth Mencer; and grandson, Richard Mencer.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Wilson of Central City; children, Charles Mencer, Sr. of Marietta, Ga., Annia Harvey of Evansville, Ind., Faye Cockrell of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Leonard Mencer of St. Petersburg, Fla., Sunnie Anita O’Keffe of Seminole, Fla., Teresa Hempen of Owensboro, Nellie DeArmond of Vine Grove, Robin Talley of Evansville, and Catherine Mencer of Evansville; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Freida Vaught of Jacksonville, Fla.; step-children, Sheila Wilson of Evansville, Anthony Wilson of Newburgh, Ind., and Michelle Murry of Evansville; 8 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
