July 28, 1955 – April 24, 2026
GREENVILLE —– The world is a bit dimmer following the sudden and unexpected loss of Glenda Kay (Wells) Mauk, age 70, who passed away on April 24, 2026. Known affectionately to all as Kay, she was a woman whose life was beautifully defined by her selflessness and a heart that truly never stopped giving.
Kay was a natural-born protector. For her, the guiding principle was “family first, always.” This unwavering dedication extended beyond her own home to a wide circle of friends who became family through her love and loyalty. Her nurturing spirit was perhaps most evident in her professional life as a dedicated nursing assistant for many years. She didn’t just provide care; she provided dignity, ensuring every patient was treated with the utmost respect. This calling was a lifelong commitment; at the time of her passing, she was still devotedly providing daily care for her mother a final, beautiful testament to a life spent putting her loved ones before herself.
Kay loved the Lord and found great joy and fellowship in her faith. She deeply enjoyed attending services at Lead Hill Methodist and Daystar Worship Center, where she drew strength and shared her light with her church families.
Kay was preceded in death by her beloved father, William Glendal Wells, and her brother, William Lynn Wells.
Her enduring legacy of compassion remains with her mother, Lola Wells, and her children, Amy Boyd and Jonathan Mauk. She was the proudest of grandmothers to John Steele (Marie) and Phoenix Boyd, and she was blessed with a great-granddaughter, Ilsa Dunn, who was a special joy in her life.
She is also survived by her baby brother, Christopher Wells, and his wife Andrea; her nieces, Amanda (Jermaine) Parker, Kristin Wells, and Julibeth Wells; and her nephews, Shane (Brittany) Wells, Maddox Wells, Logan Wells, and Jayden Wells. Her memory will be cherished by a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. These relationships remained a vital and cherished part of Kay’s daily world, and she held each of them close to her heart until the very end.
Funeral services will be held at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY on Wednesday, April 29th 2026 at 1:00 PM with Bro. Donnie Neal*** officiating. Kay will be laid to rest at Lone Star Cemetery in Weir, Kentucky.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 28th at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and after 10:00 AM until service time on Wednesday, April 29th at 1:00 PM.
