Follow recommendations, consider vaccination

Unfortunately, Covid numbers are back on the rise in Muhlenberg County. Some medical experts believe the new variants of the virus may be more contagious and thus more dangerous than the virus that initially challenged our community. I would encourage the citizens of Muhlenberg County to follow the recommendations of the Centers for Disease and Control.

If you are not fully vaccinated a face mask is recommended when you are in public. If you have symptoms that might be related to Covid – please do not be out in public.

Perhaps one of our greatest tools for fighting this virus is vaccination. Centers for Disease and Control (CDC) call the vaccine safe and effective. In one assessment they report symptomatic illness was reduced 94% by health care personal who were fully vaccinated.

It is true that vaccinated persons can get covid, but it is also true symptoms are generally less impacting. USA Today has reported that nearly all Covid-19 deaths occur among those who are unvaccinated. Research indicates that testing of the vaccine has been strenuous.

The voices of covid-19 patients will forever linger in my mind

I am happy to say I have been fully vaccinated, and I encourage other citizens to at least consider this. If you have any doubt about whether the vaccine is right for you, please talk to your health care provider.

I realize there are myths indicating the vaccine is unsafe. Please refer to a trusted source such as CDC; I suspect what you find on their website is much more accurate than what you hear from a friend or neighbor. There is no scientific evidence that I am aware of, indicating the vaccine is unsafe. There is enormous evidence that the vaccine has saved many lives.

Of course, this is not mandated, but consideration is suggested.
