CENTRAL CITY – Evelyn Jean Bumps, 86, of Central City, died Monday, January 19, 2026, at 3:50 p.m. under the care of Hospice of Southern Kentucky. Born June 28, 1939, in Cleaton. She was a homemaker. “Nanny” loved all her kids, both daughters-in-law, and grandkids. She enjoyed watching UK basketball and all westerns, especially the ones with Audie Murphy and John Wayne. Every night at 6:30, she would let everyone in the house know that the Wheel of Fortune was coming on by hollering “The Wheel is on!” Nanny was the happiest woman anyone could meet, so much so you would never know when or if she was having a bad day. Her laughter and smile were contagious, especially when having Cheetos, Dr. Peppers, and her favorite, Jack’s Pepperoni Pizzas. Her sayings and old stories will live on for many years. She will be greatly missed by everyone that ever came in contact with her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mabel Logsdon; husband, Robert Gene Bumps; and son, Michael Bumps.
Survivors include her children, Debi Lochner of Roseburg, Ore.; Chris (Donna) Bumps of Bowling Green, and Scott (Rhonda) Bumps of Evansville, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be private. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
