DRAKESBORO – Elman Bruce McDonald, age 83, born on August 9, 1942 of Drakesboro, KY, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on March 31, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Marilyn McDonald, his parents Elman and June McDonald, a sister Peggy Grissom, two brother in laws Danny Grissom and Ray Newman an infant brother Terry McDonald and his special friend Adelia Woodson.
He is survived by his two sons Darien (Lana) McDonald and Dewayne (Erica) McDonald both of Bowling Green, KY, a granddaughter Makenzie (Cash) Holman of Brentwood, TN, with one great grandson due in April, Maxwell Crews Holman. A sister Barbara Newman, of Evansville IN, brothers, Roger (Donah) McDonald of Hanson, KY and Kevin (Sandra) McDonald of Bowling Green, KY.
Bruce was retired from the coal industry where he spent the majority of his career as a Safety/Environmental Director. Through the years he worked at Sunrise Coal, P&M, Brown Badget, Donaldson Creek and Don Bowles LLC.
Bruce had many adventures in his life through his job and with family. If you knew him you would know he was a great story teller. He loved the Lord and was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. He was passionate about his family and often told others of how blessed he was with everyone in his life.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 3rd, at 1:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY, with Rev. Scott Casebier officiating. Private Graveside service to follow.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 3rd, from 10:00 AM until time of funeral services at 1:00 PM.
