Dorris Ann Tucker

Dorris Ann Knight Tucker, 84, of Lexington, formerly of Morganfield, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington.  Born March 2, 1938 to the late Clyde Nelson Knight and Maltie Reynolds Knight in Beech Creek, she was an active member of First Baptist Church in Morganfield where she served as a Sunday school teacher, working in ladies’ ministries, kitchen activities, mission events, and a preschool volunteer.  Dorris was also an active member of the Gideons International Auxiliary.  She served as an active member of Kentucky Campers on Mission involved in building churches and conducting on site ministries such as Bible school, etc.

In her previous roles before retiring, she spent several years with the Morganfield Job Corps in the Personnel Department and Safety Director.  Prior to that she served with different law firms in administrative roles as well as with public school counseling departments.

She was a devoted wife and mother always caring for the family.  Along with her husband, she viewed their working careers as their family careers.  Dorris was very involved and known throughout the state for her support and service with the Kentucky Retired Teacher’s Association.  Her strongest asset was Christian love and service; not just for her own family but for her church family as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Nelson Knight and Maltie Reynolds Knight; her daughter-in-law, Rebecca “Becky” Atkins Tucker; her brothers, O’Donover Knight, Billy Richardson Knight, and Hubert Carral “Jimmy” Knight.
