Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Dorris R. Hunt to whom she had been married for 69 years before his death in 2016, her parents Thornt and Sally McElwain, two brothers Marvine and Lawrence McElwain and son-in-law Shelby Heltsley.

Doris was an accomplished seamstress. She loved making clothing for her daughters to wear. Her love of sewing led her to open her own fabric shop. She later became interested in cake decorating and spent several years baking and decorating birthday, wedding and special event cakes. She then went to work for IGA and later Houchins, where she was employed as a cake decorator.

Doris was most importantly a faithful member of the Beechmont Church of Christ where she spent many years teaching Sunday school classes for the children.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10th, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with Darrell Puryear officiating. The family will greet friends and visitors beginning at 11:00 a.m. and burial will follow in the Horton’s Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery in Belton. A meal will follow the burial at the Beechmont Church of Christ for the family.
