Dennis Wayne Barnes, 65, passed away on June 11, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on July 7, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois, to Dwight Lee Barnes and Wilma Dean Barnes.
Dennis was a good man who believed in hard work, taking care of his family, and being there when someone needed a helping hand. A retired boilermaker, he spent many years working hard to provide for those he loved, and that strong work ethic stayed with him throughout his life. When he wasn’t working, Dennis enjoyed the simple things. He loved fishing and hunting whenever he had the chance. He thought a good day could be spent with his dogs by his side, a cup of coffee in his hand, and good friends gathered around sharing stories and laughter. More than anything, Dennis loved his family. They were the center of his world and his greatest source of pride and joy. He treasured every moment spent with them and worked hard to make sure they knew they were loved.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Lee Barnes, as well as his sisters, Brenda Cobb and Linda Barnes.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lori Barnes; children, Justin Barnes, Joshua Barnes, and Jordan (Katie) Barnes; sisters, Glenda Stephens and Debra Thompson; mother, Wilma Barnes; grandchildren, Juy and Ana Arnett, and Jace and Jonah Barnes; great-grandchildren, Jatavion Bruton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Care entrusted to Cardinal Cremation Society.
