LEWISBURG – David Rhea Boggess Sr. (Mr. B) 79 of Lewisburg went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a long battle with cancer Monday October 21, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born on December 1, 1944 in Greenville to the late John Rhea and Emma Jane Boggess.
He graduated from Greenville High School Class of 1962, owner of Boggess Electronics for over 50 years, a drill sergeant in the United States Army Reserves and a previous city council member for the city of Lewisburg. He enjoyed going to work and loved to talk to his many customers and friends. Sometimes not letting them get a word in edgewise. He loved his family like no other. They were his world and his pride and joy. He was a member of New Paradise Baptist Church. He loved Kentucky Basketball and Dodgers baseball. He was a friend to all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Rhea and Emma Jane Boggess and a daughter Leslie Jane Boggess. He is survived by his wife of 52 years and the love of his life Kay Moore Boggess, Children Jenni (Larry) Shadowen of Owensboro, David (Sherry) Boggess of Lewisburg, Rheamy (Shelly) Boggess of Lewisburg, Corey (Misty) Moore of Lewisburg, and Mitzi (Jarrod) Gardner of Greenville. Grandchildren, Tabor and Lexi Shadowen, Eliza Harper, Sean Curtis, Malea and Wilson Boggess, Devan Moore, Dylan (Danielle) Gardner, Payton (Dalton) Level, Emma and Ava Gardner. Great grandchildren Benton Gardner, Riley, Avery, and Oaklynn Level. Siblings John (Charlene) Boggess of Owensboro and Ina Somers of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 25, 2024 at New Paradise Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Adcock, Bro. Larry Shadowen and Bro. Curtis McGehee officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service were Michael Carter, Sean Curtis, Wilson Boggess, Coby Foster, Dylan Gardner, Dalton Level, Devan Moore, and Tabor Shadowen and Honorary Pallbearers for the service were Avery Level and Benton Gardner.
