Darren Equard Napier, age 60, passed away January 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and devotion to his loved ones. Born May 28, 1965, he was a faithful husband, father, and Papaw, and lived his life guided by honesty, hard work, and strong values.
In addition to a deep love for his family, he was a fisherman at heart—most at peace in his boat on the water, where he enjoyed catching crappie and bass. Highly skilled at his sport, Darren enjoyed training younger anglers and won many tournaments, including the state bass fishing tournament. Fishing wasn’t just something he did; it reflected who he was: A steady, hardworking, and tough competitor.
Not only demonstrated in his passion for fishing, Darren’s high ethic showed in work he performed throughout his life. He was employed at Logan Aluminum, Inc. on the Shutdown Team, and was a highly skilled tradesman in numerous areas including carpentry, concrete work, and construction. In short, he could build or repair most things from the ground up and taught others through his expertise.
Above all else, he took pride in attending church with his family. Having attended Leigh’s Chapel General Baptist Church, he served as a trustee and was an active member of the men’s group. His grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His faith was shown not just in words, but also in the way he diligently led by example.
Preceded in death was his father, Neal Napier; mother, Irene Free Napier; step-sister, Augusta Willoughby. Left to cherish Darren’s legacy include his wife of 40 years, Debbie Mitchell Napier; sons, Dustin and Cody (Brittany) Napier; grandchildren, Brady, Claira and Finley Napier; brother, Neal (Paula) Napier; sister, Tracy (Barry) Lanier; step-sister, Estell Power.
Celebration of Life services will be held Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Leigh’s Chapel General Baptist Church with Bro. Tony Shanks and Bro. Roger Wright officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 1, 2026 beginning at 10:00 AM at Leigh’s Chapel General Baptist Church. Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery immediately following the services.
