Central City – Darrell Lee Rector Sr., 75, of Nelson Creek died Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 8:20 a.m. surrounded by his wife and children in the peace and comfort of his home. Born July 15, 1947 in Muhlenberg County, he was a retired Teamster with the local 215 and a retired deputy sheriff with the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s office where he dedicated many years of service. He was an avid collector and restorer of classic cars and enjoyed drag racing most Saturday nights. He had a calm nature that was easy going and enjoyable to be around. He loved history and always had a story to tell. He loved his children and even loved the neighborhood kids, always setting aside extra time to teach us something new. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Volney and Mildred Rector, brothers Joe Rector and Rickey Rector.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Margaret Rector; children, Tammy (William) Goff II of Nelson Creek, Darrell (Vicki) Rector, Jr. of Greenville, and Tiffiany (Craig) Miller of Greenville; grandchildren, Eddie Joe (Vanessa) Fulkerson, Coty (Amber) Fulkerson, Darrell Rector Ill, Destiny (Jacob) Miller, Danielle Rector, Hannah (lan) Abshire, Hunter (Kutia) Miller, Evan Miller, Jessica (Drue) Chandler, Megan (Justin) Hayward, and Shelby Whitehead; great-grandchildren, Harlye Fulkerson, Kayle Fulkerson, Gavin Fulkerson, Avery Rector, Arlo Peveler, and Blakelyn Rector; brothers, Mike Rector and Sherman (Betty) Rector; sister Altie (Larry) Majors; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with  Bro. Matt Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Nelson Creek Cemetery.
