GREENVILLE – Darla Ruth Matheney, 64, of Greenville, died Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville. Born in Greenville June 17, 1960, the daughter of Owen William Wright and Kathryn Lacefield Wright. She had worked as a nurse for 33 years, working for Owensboro Health and as a school nurse, and retired in March of this year. She was a member of Roland Memorial Baptist Church where she taught children in Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Debbie Sue Wright.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville conducted by Rev. Danny Mooneyhan, assisted by Rev. Ron Matheny. A Nurses Honor Guard will be a part of the service. Burial will follow in New Cypress Cemetery in Greenville.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, James “Jimmy” Ralph Matheney, Jr. of Greenville; one son, Logan Matheney of Greenville; one daughter, Alison Matheney of Greenville; two granddaughters; two sisters, Donna Wright of Greenville and Tena Wright of Greenville; two brothers, Jackie Wright of Greenville and Charles Wright of Greenville; mother-in-law, Nancy Martin of Greenville.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.
