Cora Mae Holbrook, 90, of Louisville, went to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Norton’s Audubon Hospital in Louisville. Born February 12, 1933 in Todd County, the daughter of Osby Blankenship and Belva Marie Hardison Blankenship. She had worked in the restaurant business and was of the Baptist faith. She loved God, her family, U of L Cardinals, Bingo, and the color red. Her favorite games were The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. At her death, she peacefully passed surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her baby Betty Ann, three sons Wendell Lear, Jerry Lear, and Charles Winkle, one brother Rondel Blankenship, two sisters Corine Lee and Betty Boggess, and a grandson Ray Lear.
Survivors include four sons, Joe Winkle of Louisville, Kenny (Martha) Holbrook of Carlisle, Ky., Donald Allen (Nedra) Holbrook, Sr. of Mt. Washington, Ky., and Ronnie Holbrook of Louisville; one daughter, Marie (Keith) Phillips of Greenville; 16 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Blankenship of Lafayette, Ind.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, conducted by her grandson Kenton Holbrook. Burial will follow at Emberry Church Cemetery in Todd County. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 2:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.
