GREENVILLE – Cora Mae Chandler, 93, was born September 22nd, 1931 in Muhlenberg County to the late Fonzo and Ivyle (Wells) Boggess. Cora graduated in 1950 from Graham High School and in 1952 she married Delbert Chandler and they celebrated 53 years of marriage before Delbert’s death in 2005. She was a former employee of General Electric, Emerson Electric, Cowden Manufacturing Co., and Snow White Laundry. Cora enjoyed working outdoors, working puzzles, gardening, reading, and shopping. She attended Olive Grove General Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, with Bro. J.W. Haire officiating, assisted by Bro. Bradley Brown. Burial will follow in Olive Grove Cemetery in Greenville.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Winn of Greenville; brother, Ray Boggess of Greenville; sister, Sue Wright of Cary, N.C. and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her husband and parents, Cora was preceded in death by her son-in-law David Winn and sister Wanda Summers.
Cora was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral at Gary’s Funeral Home.
