Bro. James Roy Lear, 73, of Greenville died Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville. Born November 10, 1948 in Todd County, the son of Richard Lear and Gracie Ann Mayes Lear. He was a farmer all his life and was a preacher for over forty years. He was a member of Trinity General Baptist Church in Tyewhoppity, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Linda Knight.
Survivors include his sister, Thelma Marie Slaughter of Clifty, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Freedom General Baptist Church in Greenville with Rev. Tony Blake officiating assisted by Rev. Anthony Knight. Burial will follow at Lear Cemetery in Clifty. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, June 17 at Freedom General Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
