BOWLING GREEN – Brian “Scooter” Vester, 52 of Bowling Green died unexpectedly Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Born December 21, 1968, in Sullivan, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Judy Jett; grandparents, Lewis and Sue Jett, and Henry and Dola Mallory.
Scooter is survived by his beautiful wife, Misty Pope Vester; his son, his pride and joy, Keaton Vester; several brothers, Joe (Robin) Duncan, Shane (Kerri) Schindler, Zach (Stephanie) Baker, and Jack Harney; and one sister, Beth Rotramel. He has several other children, Megan (Brian) Rodriguez, Phil Freeland, Brian Hudson, and Carter Smock. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles and two cousins, Billy and Matt Strader.
In his early career, he worked with Mike for many years in the coal mines. From there, they built a family business, Jetts’ Automotive, in Carlisle, Ind., to pursue their love of the automotive industry. After Scooter’s mother passed, Scooter and his family moved to Bowling Green. After moving to Bowling Green, Scooter’s career shifted to specializing in building carburetors where he became well known as an industry expert in his field.
However, where you really saw Scooter, living life to the fullest, was at the drag strip. He always went out of his way to lend a helping hand, which is the reason everyone thought he was one heck of a guy and so beloved by his racing family. Scooter was an accomplished Super Stock drag racer and was passionate about sharing his love of racing and helping others, which will carry forward through the characteristics and ethics seen in Keaton today.
Scooter had a gift for helping those around him reach their highest potential. Through his profound fathering nature, he created the ability to teach others to believe in themselves, overcome self-doubt and have the confidence to pursue their life goals. He was a magnet for kids, and kids were a magnet for him, which created a cascade of meaningful lifelong relationships. He touched so many people’s lives, was looked up to by so many, and was adored by everyone.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home, 113 N. Third Street, Central City, KY 42330, with Mr. Eddie Baugher officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday after 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Scooter’s life. Family and friends are asked to wear a face covering, in accordance with the governor’s mandate. In compliance with health and public safety directives, capacity will be limited based upon current state guidelines.
