GREENVILLE – Bobby Joe Greenwood, 79, of Greenville, died Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Linda White Hospice Center in Evansville, Ind. Born in Muhlenberg County December 21, 1945, the son of James Burness Greenwood and Ruby D. Baggett Greenwood. He was a member of Jernigan’s Chapel Methodist Church and was a UMWA coal miner, working for Peabody Coal Mines at Gibraltar Mines. He was an oiler on Peabody’s largest dragline. He owned Greenwood Equipment and the Greenwood Family Farm, and he was a farmer all of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Burness Greenwood, and three sisters Dalphie Grant, Margaret White, and Susan Greenwood.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13 at 1:00 Pp.m.at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, officiated by Dr. Paul Moore. A private burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Greenville.
Survivors include his two daughters, Donna (Thomas) Clark of Chattanooga, TN,
Angie (Steve) Vincent of Sacramento, KY;
Five grandchildren—-Courtney Clark, Seth Clark, Amber (Joseph) Gray,
Emily Vincent, Nathan Vincent;
four great grandchildren——-James Seat, Carter Seat, Cole Gray, Kate Gray;
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral at 1:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home.
