CENTRAL CITY – Blanche Virginia Hawkins, 86 , of Central City, died Wednesday, August 27, 2025, 1:16 a.m. at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
Born September 2, 1938 in Muhlenberg County, Greenville to Jonah and Mary Christian, who preceded her in death. In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Hawkins, Sr.; one son, James Robert Hawkins, Jr.; brother, Jonah Richard Christian; two sisters, Emma Jean Williams and Margaret Ann Bean.
She professed Christ at an early age and has been a member of the St. James A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church her whole life. She worked for the Lord in the following capacities: Mother of the Church, Choir Member, Member of the Usher Board, and Culinary Dept. She was affiliated with the Eastern Star, holding various positions. As a business, she owned B & H Cleaning.
Blanche loved to eat jelly beans and drink a cold diet coke, along with chips.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Hawkins, Surprise, Ariz. and Pastor Steven Hawkins, Maricopa, Ariz.; two daughters, Daphne Hawkins and Tammy Hawkins, both of Central City; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosie Mitchell, Litchfield Park, Ariz.; two brothers, Robert Christian, Queens, N.Y. and Harold Christian, Evansville, Ind.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025, 3:00 p.m. at the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 411 N. 1st Street, in Central City. Rev. Otis Cunningham, Officiating. Visitation 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial in West End Cemetery, Greenville, KY. Eulogist, Rev. George Phillips. Final Tribute entrusted to Bibbs Funeral Home, 109 Court Row, Greenville, KY.
