Bill “Buck” Washburn

CENTRAL CITY – Bill “Buck” Ervin Washburn, 94, of Central City went to be with his Lord on September 12, 2022. He was born and raised in Fremont, Mo. to Chester Arthur and Mary Elizabeth Washburn, he was the last surviving of eleven children. He served in the United States Army, military police in the Korean War for 6 and a half years.

Bill was a very talented builder and businessman and was a general contractor for 50 years. Some familiar local projects Bill contracted included (but not limited to) the Muhlenberg County Senior Citizens Center, Super 8 hotel, Huddle House, Best Western hotel, the Merle Travis Music Center, and the Central City Convention Center.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Nell Washburn of 65 years; his sons, Chester “Chet” (Sally) Washburn of Central City, and Steve (Kim) Washburn of Gainesville, Fla.; grandchildren, Seth (Kelsey) Washburn, Kristen (Neal) Allen, and Stephen Washburn; and one great-grandchild.

Bill loved his family, the building business and the St. Louis Cardinals. The family will have a private celebration of life. Tucker Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
