CENTRAL CITY – Betty Joyce Embry, 87, of Central City, died Monday, September 11, 2023, at 3:41 p.m. at her sister’s residence in Central City. Born December 27, 1935, in Calhoun, she was a cook for the Muhlenberg County School System and a member of Church of God of Prophecy Church. She loved the Lord, her church, and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always put others before herself and loved others dearly. She was best known for her compassion to others.
Mrs. Embry was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Embry; mother, Geneva Erwin; father, Robert Erwin; brother, Tommy Erwin; and sister, Patricia Drake.
Survivors include her sons Tim (Kim) Embry of Louisville and Chuck (Karen) Embry of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren Davi (Steve) Steward, Kyle (Hannah) Parrino, Victoria (Teddy) Tirado, Whitney Embry, and Alyssa Metcalf; great-grandchildren Charlee Steward, Walker Steward, and Evie Embry; brothers and sisters Robert Erwin, Shirley Morris, Carolyn Erwin, Larry Erwin, and Sharon Erwin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 15, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Samuel Smith officiating, assisted by Sister Carolyn Erwin. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday after 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to American Cancer Society.
