Betty Jewel Long, 90, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Born May 7, 1932, the daughter of the late John Arnold and the late Tillie McMillen Arnold. She was the wife of the late Billie Long Jr. She was a member of Penrod Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by sisters, Oleta Latham and Ava Nell Woodlee, brothers, T. Arnold, Paul Arnold and Neal Arnold.
She loved to sew and quilted countless quilts for her family and friends. She loved to travel and spent many months traveling to nearly every U.S. state then living out the winter months in Florida or Texas. She flew in a plane, cruised on a cruise ship and took a couple of trips on a train. She captured her memories in notebooks which were later published into two journals that were comical and enlightening. Her favorite days were spent surrounded by family laughing and remembering the adventures of their lives
Survivors include her daughters Cindy Colston (Jeff) of Russellville, Susie Axtell of Greenville, Kathy Harper (Jim) of Jackson, Tenn., Barb Wester (Ric) of Belton; sons David Long (Patricia) of Woodburn, Tim Long (Penny) of Cadiz; 15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sister Patty Porter of Penrod.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Price Funeral Home, Inc., 252 E. Green St., Lewisburg with Bro Steve Rutherford and Bro. Joe Chambers officiating. Burial will be follow in Penrod Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
