GREENVILLE – Belle Marie Walker, 89, of Greenville, died Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Muhlenberg County June 5, 1935, the daughter of Shellie Mayes and Cora Mae Sweeney Mayes. She was a housewife and a homemaker and was a member of New Harmony General Baptist Church. She had worked on a farm and in a sewing factory in Elkton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 68 years Leslie Net Walker, Jr., a brother Virgus Mayes, and two sisters Margie Adams and Wanda Adams.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, conducted by Rev. Tony Evitts. Burial will follow in Greenbrier School House Cemetery in Rosewood.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley (James) Williams of Tamaroa, Ill.; two sons, Royce (Teresa) Walker of Greenville and Gary (Dorothy) Walker of Greenville; ten grandchildren, Vickie (Greg) Thompson, James Leslie (Angie) Williams, Jr., Cara Williams, Kenneth Williams, Jayson Lyle Walker, Seth (Amy) Walker, Daniel (Darcy) Walker, Bobby D. Walker, James Edward Walker, Derek Wade (Allie) Walker; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral on Thursday, October 24 at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.
