Barbara Nell Wells

Barbara Nell Wells, 83, of Todd County, died Friday, July 28, 2023 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.  Born November 22, 1939 in Muhlenberg County, she was a school teacher for 29 years at Dunmor and Lake Malone Schools, and was a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a Master’s Degree.  She was the daughter of Henry Clay Chandler and Gola Lear Chandler, and attended New Harmony General Baptist Church since 1952. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Melrow Wells, her parents Clay and Gola Chandler, her sister Genival Scott, and four brothers Kenneth, Arthur Lee, Marvin Woodrow,  and Henry Gale Chandler.

Survivors include a son Thomas Wells of Todd County; daughter, Melinda Howard of Todd County; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three sisters, Margie Wells of Greenville, Bonnie Wilson of Hopkinsville, and Wanda Anderson of Greenville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 31, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Harmony General Baptist Church in Todd County conducted by Bro. Tony Evitts.  Burial will follow in Carneal Cemetery in Todd County.  Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
