GREENVILLE – Barbara Nell Uzzle died at her residence on September 16, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 18, 1942 to Paul Sumpter and Doris Mae Dickinson Grace. She retired as an Administrative Assistant for MSHA in Madisonville, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Doris Grace; mother and father-in-law, Jiggs and Louise Uzzle; a daughter-in-law, Tina Shanks; a sister and brother-in-law, Marie and David Hinton; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Doris Uzzle; and brother-in-law, Terry Chaney.
Survivors include her husband of almost 33 years, Charles Uzzle, her daughter, Pam (Steve) George of Blue Springs, Missouri; her son, Mike Shanks of Lexington, KY; bonus son, Greg Uzzle of Greenville, KY; and bonus daughter, Gail (Zach) Tyban of Greenville, KY; sisters, Mary Collins, Anna Mae (Wilbur) Harkins and sister-in-law, Anne Chaney; granddaughters, Taylor L. (Taylor N.) Moore of Kansas City, Missouri; Shelby (Brian) Mulert of Lexington, KY; Jessica Uzzle of Georgia and Ashlee Beadnell of Greenville, KY; grandsons, Steven George of Kansas City, Missouri; Cole (Madelyn) Shanks of Lexington, KY; Jacob (Amber) Uzzle of Greenville, KY; Zack Uzzle of Georgia; Drake (Jamie Beth) Harkins of Bremen, KY; Great grandchildren, Judson and Silas Moore, Maxwell George, Carter and Courtney Mulert, Ryleigh, Liam, Hannah, Kaia and Keely Uzzle, MaKenna (Nathan) Whitehouse, Kyler Gill, Kason and Kash Morris, Bryna and Briar Staples, Drakelynn and Timber Harkins; and Great-great grandchildren, Harlan and Hansen
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Gary’s Funeral Home, with Bro. Tom Stovall officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
