The MCHS Fishing Team has brought home four state championships, in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2021. This event is a fundraiser for the team.

The team will reveal their new fishing boat, a Ranger Z521R, at 10 a.m. The team raised $55,000 for the purchase, and it is the first new boat purchased by a high school fishing team in Kentucky. The boat has been customized with the team’s logo and school colors.

“It is really unique and humbling to be able to purchase a team boat for the Fishing Team,” said head coach Cody Napier.

“We are very blessed, honored, and excited about having a new team boat. We will be able to use this boat with the latest technology, which will be able to aid in teaching and during competitions.”

Napier said the team is thankful for the community’s support in their fundraising efforts. “We could not have done it without all of our sponsors and those that donated.”

Donors to the team include Gary’s Funeral Home, Marilyn Kirtley, Brandeis Machinery, Owensboro Health, Browning Electric, Susan Holt, Uncle Lee’s, Logan Aluminum, Precision Strip, David & Edna Dennis, Neal’s Chapel, Ben Tooley, Shawn Rickard, Gary Tooley, Wester’s Body Shop, Ches W. Riddle, JR MJR Farms LLC, R.L. Craig Company, LLC, Malone Lumber Center, Vincent & Carla Tanner, 1st Kentucky Bank, Walmart, Pace Tire, Scotty’s Contracting, First Southern National Bank, Mechanical Consultants, Inc., Felix Martin Foundation, Jan Yonts, Audas Environmental, Whitaker’s Taxidermy, Mercury, Jet A Marina, Muhlenberg County Board of Education, Muhlenberg County High School, and Kentucky Fire Commission.

Major League Fishing pro Bradley Roy will be the guest speaker. He will present a seminar at 10:30 a.m. on Lowrance ActiveTarget Live Sonar fishing.

Middle and high school aged anglers can enter to win prizes if they attend the event. Used boats may be displayed, and food and refreshments will be available.

Admission is $5, and children 10 and under are free. All proceeds go to the MCHS Fishing Team. Muhlenberg South Middle School is located at 2900 KY 176 in Greenville.

To reserve a table to sell fishing items (no guns allowed), or for more information, contact Cody Napier at 270-977-7461 or email cody.napier@muhlenberg.kyschools.us
