Greenville-Anna Jean Wilson Nofsinger, 90, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, at her residence. Born April 24, 1931 in Luzerne to the late Wayne W. and Ina Mae Wilson. Anna Jean’s passion for serving others was first cultivated at the age of six, when she climbed atop Coca Cola boxes to serve hamburgers to the public. She later worked in her brother Charles’ Pick and Shovel and her sister Margie’s Coach House restaurants. In 1982, she and her husband Nat J. purchased Shady Cliff Restaurant and later built a lodge and expanded the restaurant. They owed and operated Shady Cliff Resort for 36 years. Anna Jean was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville and loved her church family deeply.
Though Anna Jean worked tirelessly for her beloved community throughout her lifetime, her greatest roles were that of wife, mother, and Nannie. She was the light in each of their lives, and she loved each of them beyond measure.
Along with her parents, Anna Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Nat J. Nofsinger, her son Nat Bryant Nofsinger, and her seven brothers and sisters: Ralph Wilson, Charles Wilson, Ruby Wilson, Buck Tyson, Edna Mae Martens, Margie Syers, and June Durall.
Survivors include her daughter Kim (Larry) Wardrip; her grandchildren Whitney (James) Bundren, Seth (Melanie) Wardrip, Gatlin Nofsinger, Natalie Nofsinger, and her great-grandchildren Carver Bundren, Keaton Bundren, Ryder Nofsinger, and Nahla Nofsinger.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 7 2021 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Expressions of love and sympathy should be presented at the cemetery.
