BREMEN- Charles Wayne “Duke” Shanks, 72, of Bremen died Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Born in Muhlenberg County on June 29, 1952. He worked as a coal miner for 15 years at Sinclair Underground and as a logger for 25 years, a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist church. When he was young, he loved camping on the Green River, as well as fishing and hunting. He loved woodworking, running his rabbit dogs, gardening, and picking his guitar. He also loved spending time with his family and staying home. Mr. Shanks is preceded in death by his father, Charles Ray Shanks; brother, Michael Dale Shanks.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Becky Shanks; daughter, Shelly Shanks (Johnny) Lear; son, Curtis Shanks; granddaughter, Cassie Lear Martorano; grandson, Cody Lear; mother, Wilda Shanks; brothers, Chris Shanks; nieces, Beth Atcher, Kristen Arnold, Haley Shanks.

Funeral services will be private. Tucker Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
